We had this problem a lot during the reign of queen Leprosy the leopard gecko. She would only eat live crickets or worms. When she was young and my son took care of her, she would blow through a dozen crickets in an hour. As she aged, especially the last year before she died, she was an indifferent hunter at best, so the crickets would last for days - cricking away all night long. You have my sympathy. Can your rattie hunt it down and eat it?

His name is Hendryx! He's a rat terrier! OK!

Ew. Years ago we had toads and frogs in a big tank.  My ex bought crickets for them to eat by the bagful....once he dropped a bag and we had icky crickets all over!  I ran out of the house.  I like toads, frogs, mice, rats (domestic ones), even non-poisonous snakes but insects are totally nasty and gross!

I don't think that they're nasty or gross - as opposed to roaches which are nasty and gross - but they can be noisy and distrubing.

The only thing more irritating than being kept awake by a cricket chirping is being kept awake by a mosquito buzzing around your ear all night.
