we took in a stray a few days ago and we suspect she may be pregnant.  Just the week we have had her her nipples have gotten bigger, she is starting to pee more, she is asking for more and more attention, getting very cuddly and as of a few days ago she is restless at night and isnt sleeping alot.  she is also is losing her appetite.  My vet said that she might not even be able to tell us if she is pregnant or not if we do bring her in and she suggested we give it a little longer since she is a stray and we are trying to find her a home this is somthing i would like to know soon.  I've been doing some research online but have never had a dog that was pregnant or even a dog that has been in heat.  does this sound like what it might be?  we dont know what happened to her before we got her and she doesnt look like she is pregnant (she's not big) but i was wondering if anyone knows of any other way to tell or other signs we could be looking out for.

like i said i have never been put in this situation so these "symptoms" could be nothing at all just a dog being a dog, but any comments would be helpful.

it sounds like she may be getting ready to come into heat to me...Rosie gets clingy, eats less, sleeps more and her nipples swell a few weeks before going into heat. she's never been pregnant, but had a few false pregnancies, and she can't seem to get enough to eat during that time, and packs on the weight.

nora got like that when she was quite young 5 months and I thought she was going into heat early--I will never know, because it might have been a "silent heat".

I did not want to spay but I did and it was the best thing I have done. Maybe you can get it done??

Definitely sounds like she's coming into heat to me, as well.

They really don't "show" with a big belly till the last month of a 2 month pregnancy.  Yes, nipples bigger, nausea-not eating, uncomfortable while sleeping are all signs of pregnancy.  Also her vuvla will be kind of big as it does not go back down after the heat cycle if they become pregant.  It will swell during heat, so it is really hard to tell....If she is going in to heat she should be bleeding by now.  If she is not bleeding then my bet is pregnancy if the vulva is still swollen.
