I recently bought a Dingo brand type kong that's shaped like a bell, You put a dingo brand mini bone in it and Your dog is supposed to try and get it out. My dog doesn't care for them much so I was thinking about filling it with peanut butter and freezing itm but this think is about 2 1/2-3 inches tall and could hold about 1/4 cup of peanut butter I bet. Just waundering how much is to much and how often is to often?

depends on a couple of things....
what kind of peanut butter are you using?
how active is your dog?
I wouldn't fill the kong up with PB no matter what you answer above- that's too much at one time IMO. Might be okay if you are filling it, giving it to your dog for 10-15 minutes, taking it away for a day or two and giving it back and doing that until it's empty, but I wouldn't fill it and just give it to your dog in one sitting.
Mine are 13 lbs and very active. They might get a total of a quarter cup each over a period of a week and I only use all natural/raw peanut butter. Hope that helps. |

| I woldn't worry about it too much unless you are concerned about food allergies. I get those hollow white bones and fill those with penut butter and give them to my dogs as often as they need to be occupied. On a hike once I caught Otis trying to eat a dead sunk. If that didn't kill him a can't imagine penuit butter would. |

| If you are feeding peanut butter such as Jif, Skippy etc, they are full of sugar and salt. Too much of either is not good for dogs! Peanut butter is also high in fat. lf your dog, isn't very active too much peanut butter can lead to being overweight, so it is important not too feed too much. My vet warned against too much PB because smaller dogs can more easily become overweight. |

If your dog shows signs of overweight, you could mix the PB with a good filler (such as oatmeal or cooked rice) and use that to stuff and freeze. Just make sure to use enough PB to keep the mixture sticky.
I think I have a cookie recipe that starts out with PB and quick oats, then a little sugar, then some chocolate, and you put it in mounds on waxed paper and let it cool.

I bought yoda the little kong and every other week as a treat after his bath i put about a tablespoon of arrowhead mills natural PB in it 4 him! He Loves it! |

| We do the same thing for Jax, but we put treats down at the tip of it, then some natural PB, a treat and some PB in layers and he goes at it for hours until its empty. The more layering we do the less pb we use. |
