We were in a hurry when we left this morning (go figure with a 10 and 6 yr old, we are ALWAYS running late) so we didn't realize that Max pulled his little trick of hiding under the bed until we are out of the driveway.  We got home and Kevin was fussing b/c he had been left out, meanwhile I am walking through the house to my bedroom and telling Kevin to get over it, it's not like he's hurt anything..................Famous last words!  I looked on my bed and saw my capri pants that Kevin bought me for my bday (kinda expensive ones) and there was a HUGE hole in them.  Max didn't even bother to unfold them first...just ate a big ole hole in them!  I yelled at him (something I don't think I've ever done)...not at the top of my voice, but in a very stern, no question I was ticked off way.  He hid under the bed and wouldn't come out, he kept shaking like I was gonna hurt him.   Kevin finally pulled him out from under the bed b/c we knew he had to go outside, he'd been in all day.  Kevin picked him up and then he peed on himself.

I feel so bad.  You would think that this dog had been beaten or something!!!  All I did was get mad at him, something I never do.  Now my pants are ruined, my husband is mad, and my pup is upset with me.

if I remember right, these aren't the first pair of (expensive) pants that Max has destroyed, right? I can't get over how much more sensitive ratties are compared to the other dogs I've had...they will get that "beaten" look before I even know that they've done something bad.

Buddy - gone but never forgotten.

Sorry about the capris Brandy. I know how you feel though about Max. These pups are so sensitive. I hate when I get that look from Savanna. Breaks your heart. I never yell or hit my dogs either, but, when they know they did wrong, they get this 'I'm so sorry, I'll never do again look.' (til next time!) Such little actors they are. Max will be fine, and so will you! Time to go shopping!

Yep...he's cuddled up to me now.  It's like he forgot all about me being mad!  LOL!

And NO it's not the first pair of expensive pants he's eaten.  I guess it is my fault...I should NOT leave my clothes out where a rattie can take revenge on them!!

Oh Dear, not a good day for you or Max! I cannot agree with you more though on the fact that RT's are very sensitive. I've had various breeds of dogs over the years, but none respond like Daisy when she is in trouble for something. Sorry it wasn't a great day..... To coin a phrase from Meet the Parents movie.....I'd say "Max's circle of trust just got alot smaller....kennel size".... :-)

Sorry to hear about the pants. Our little doggies do tend to bounce back quick.

His name is Hendryx! He's a rat terrier! OK!
