There's this cat. I assume it's a stray. We have only once seen it during the day. It came out of the woods behind my house and just lingered on the edge of the treeline torturing Yaz. We haven'et seen it again during the day since then and that was about a month ago. Well all week about this time it comes up to my back door. I don't know how Claude (my kitty) knows he's coming, but all of a sudden Claude comes charging through the living room and goes to the back door and they proceed to hiss, spit and howl at each other throught the screen. JAYSUS! Scares the life out of me! I run over and flip on the outside light and the cat runs off. WTH should I do? It's getting old ya know?

Either feed it and tame it, or get one of those humane animal traps from Animal Control, and trap it, and let them pick it up. Be careful, if it bites you, you will really have to catch it, and maybe get rabies shots. Sounds like it is afraid of people though.

Hadn't thought about a humane trap. I think my neighbor has some. Trouble is if I put food out I will draw all the other REALLY wild critters. Last year I tried something I saw in a magazine. I made a feeder for bird seed to put on the ground for the fatter birde that can't get on the feeders. YEAH! And the racoons, skunks, and lord knows what else.

Sure wouldn't wanna catch a skunk! I would imagine cat food, would attract those other critters too. Maybe your neighbor will help you, if you catch sumpin else....

Nope. He's not likely to help me if I catch something else. He used to use the traps to catch critters eating his garden. He'd call Animal Control to come get it. He got tired of paying the fee so now he shoots them.

I'd put a small bowl or tin of food (thinking like in an empty tuna can) of cat food far away from your house, and not in a trap, for now. Check on it the next day. Is it gone? Is there a skunky smell?

Then base your decision on a trap on what happens there... and hey, at least you're giving it one meal!
