I know this may be a little nasty. I believe my Rat Terrier Jax  may have worms in his poo, they are like little srtands of rice about two rice peices long and white. Are theese possibly worms and will he be okay to wait till our vet appointment on friday to bring this up or is it an urgant, possibly life threating condition i need to be seeking help imediately for. There's not but one or two every time he goes, hoewever I'm getting concerned!

they're worms...they should be taken care of soon, especially if your pups tummy looks bloated. it might be okay to wat until Friday, but call your vet to make sure.

Tapeworms...they come from ingesting fleas.  Your vet can give you something for them..

Here's a link with some info on worms: http://www.thepetcenter.com/exa/worms.html

Pixie just had these. They're tapeworms. Ask the vet for Drontal. I didn't have to have an appt. and the pill for a 6 lbs. dog was only $6. HTH!! Our giant black lab had them once (but it was explainable...Pixie's case really wasn't, but I assume she could have eaten a flea on a walk or something) and 2 pills for a dog her size were $25. So it ranges, but you shouldn't be out over $25 or so. It causes no runny poo. The worms and larvae just die and they poop them out normally.

But....If Jax isn't on heartgard (I always just assume every dog is on it), he does need to go to the vet for this, so he can be tested for other little wormies as well
