This comming sunday we are headed to Tahoe.  Thom's dad finally made us feel bad enough that we are all (Thom's dad, brother, sister in law, and neice) going over to Tahoe to visit his aging grandparents. It's not that I don't want to meet them, but I have to leave the pups for two nights and three days with my roommates.  I don't want to. The roommates will be at work all day monday and tuesday. So I am having a friend come over and let them out to pottie and give them their lunch. The roommates can take care of everything else. But what if they can't? Casey is going to be terriefied while I am gone. Lilly should be fine. But Casey is going to just sleep the whole time I am gone. I know he won't eat for my roommates.

WHAT DO I DO!!! I going to worrie the further and further I drive away from them. I might cry.

You have two hands, you might as well have two ratties....right?

Poor thing, I know how you feel. we are going on a 7 day cruise in September, and I am already worried sick about my pups. You just have to make sure that everything is prepared before you leave. Make sure you have their files in order, vet records, numbers and all easily accessible, make sure you have exactly how much food and what times they eat, write down their regular schedule, and make sure that your roommates agree to try and keep the pups as much on schedule as they can with you being gone. Just make sure they know how very important casey and lily are to you (which I'm sure they do) and ask them to please keep you updated the whole time you are gone. I know its scary to leave your dogs with someone else, but if you trust these people enough to live with them day in and day out, I'm sure they understand how importnant taking care of your dogs is. As for Casey being scared, what about leaving one of your shirts or a blanket thet you sleep with around for him to lay on while you are gone, so at least he can smell you. Plus, your probably going to laugh, but I talk to mine on the phone while I'm gone just so they can hear my voice. I think its more soothing for me than them, but it helps calm my nerves.

Good luck, at least you can phone in and check up on them while you are gone. I'm sure they will be fine, but I know it is impossible not to worry.

I know how that feel, I left Daxter when he just barely live with me for a month and my friend took care of him. He was nervous in the 1st day but doing better after that. I would prepare everything for your dog like Maggie said and check in with your roomie everyday, just to make sure they are OK. I am sure they are fine, most of the time we are the human that worried so much, but I totally understand it. It's hard to left your furbaby with someone else even if you know they will take good care of them.

A couple years ago I laughed my butt off at my sister in law for schedualing out everything for her baby the fist time they went away. She had everything so written down, including his regular times in the day he would need a diaper change. I completely untderstand now. I have written down all the things they will, or may need. Including if casey has an allergy reaction while I am gone. How much food the hefty Lilly is allowed and a number of treats they are allowed a day. I listed where we usually go on our walk, incase someone wants to walk them. And, the vet's number is on a huge paper on the frige. Casey usually sleeps in our room anyways and has tuns of stuff that smells like me...but I will leave out extra stuff for him to snuggle with while I am gone.  My roommates already think I am crazy cuz of how much I love my dogs. So when I call and leave a message for the pups on the machine....I am sure they will just think I am crazier.
