She is just now losing her puppy teeth and getting new ones. I just notice that she has a slight underbite [her bottom teeth stick out farther than the top]

What should i do?

I don't know that you can do anything. Mitzy has an underbite, too and I think it's adorable.
You could ask your vet, if she has any retained puppy teeth they often pull them when the dog is spayed to prevent tooth decay on the adult tooth.

That was what i was told that she would get them pulled. My male was fixed and his teeth were never pulled.

Im still trying to decide if i want to spay her or not. I might want more puppies?

Any suggestions?

I think an underbite might be considered a "blemish" and make her less desirable to breed....but I'm not a breeder. You might want to post that question in the Breeder Forum.

http://www.ratterrierclub.com/standard/ - it talks about underbites, overbites at the very bottom of the page...it's a disqualification.

Jack has an underbite too, not a big deal from a "pet" owner standpoint. As far as breeding goes, it is not usually something you would want to pass on as it is genetic.

Bailey has a slight underbite too... I've seen several of this breed where that is common. But Mary Beth is right... it is a "fault" and not one I would wish to breed into a litter of puppies.

Same as with Bailey... where his rear angulation is not as good as it needs to be. He's neutered, but no way would I ever breed a dog who has a known fault...

Can't do anything to correct it. Like has already been said, ya wouldn't want to breed and can't show an underbite dog, but I think it is kinda cute and makes them look like they're always smiling. Button has a pretty bad underbite.

Yeah, Niko's one and only litter mate had an overbite. Gail only sold him on the condition that he would be neutered.

You never breed a dog with a bad bite! It does affect how they eat. I once was sociallizing pups for a freind that bred Aussies and he had terrible problems with bites and it all went back to one male in his lines. He had never noticed but this male although he was built beautifully had a very bad overbite. His pups all did too and some were so bad they had a lot of trouble eating kibble. He ended up removing the entire line, about 10 of his dogs to get rid of it. They were pets only and all were neutered.

Max has one too...he's been nuetered though and will not be bred. He got it from his father. I think it is absolutely adorable. He always looks like he's grinning at us!! It's an even bigger grin when he's all excited!!! I wouldn't want him any other way!

I wonder where this Fenway person went, and if she ever bred her female again? A lot of members from back in December have disappeared. Maybe they are just lurking now.
