So I was walking Pepper this evening, and getting close to the end of our walk. I think it ended up being about 5 or 6 miles. We're walking through this subdivision that we've been in before. There's a lady walking to little toy dogs on the sidewalk, and we were in the street. I don't know what kind they were as they were pulling and going nutz. Pepper was strolling by my side, loose lead and all, and this lady had 2 dogs going nuts, a kid about 6 or 7 that she was yelling at cuz she thought he would run over the dogs if he was in front of her, and as I look over, there's another toy dog with another owner coming across from between 2 houses, straining at the end of the leash. I reminded Pepper to ignore it, and look over to keep an eye on them, to make sure no one loses their dog. The lady with 2 dogs just about freaked when the additional dog got near hers, because, she was more concerned about my dog. She said to the other lady, "Oh, sorry, I was making sure that other one didn't come over here," as she pointed in my direction. Her dogs were straining towards the little one the whole time, so if she had been watching hers, she would have known it was coming.
I was so proud of Pepper for not getting worked up by excited dogs. I don't understand what's so hard about training a dog. But then again, I would have named her Pavlov, if she had been a boy.
OOH!!!! And I just found out today that one of the nursing homes in the area, one I am familiar with, only requires up to date shots to visit the home and work with the residents!!! I'm going to work with Pepper around my grandmother's neighbors before I go there to be sure she can keep her cool around elderly. |
