not sure Although I think it might mean of topic also while I am asking--I cant get the top smiley faces to work--only the ones on the side--what gives.

Do you mean these smililes...the ones located in the formatting toolbar above the message window? They seem to be working ok for me. You just click on the smilie button then click on the smilie you want to use from the pop up box>
