I had to leave Lucy there...she has a foxtail up her nose, and they need to knock her out to remove it.  Depending on how busy they get, they might not be able to do it until midnight.  I hate having to leave any of my dogs at the vet, especially over-night, but with Lucy it's even worse...she's such a sensitive girl, and she always seems to be the one who's rushed to the vet for something.  Molly wasn't happy that her sister wasn't with me when I got home...she's on my bed, pouting right now, which is making me feel even more guilty.

Then I overhear one of the vet techs on the phone telling someone that they only feed the dogs there Science Diet "unless they have a special diet/needs"  I hope they don't decide to feed Lucy any of that crap...she'd probably be too upset to eat anyways, but still...

I just want my baby girl to be okay...I hate it when any of my dogs are sick.

thanks guys. I know she will be oaky, it's just leaving her... I go through this at least once a year, so I know what to expect. it's the first time that the e-vet has had to do it, but it can't wait until tomorrow...if it goes in too far, it can do some serious damage, and foxtails rarely come out on their own. my regular vet would have had her in and out in a few hours, and not make her stay overnight, but I'm glad we have an e-vet so close. the last tme I was at the e-vet's office was when I had to have Buddy put to sleep, so I was not too thrilled to have to go back there so soon.

Ok, showing my ignorance, but what the heck is a foxtail and how did it get up her nose?

they're weeds common in this area, our property is covered with it.  they are about nose/eye level for most dogs, and they get them in their noses (eyes too), just by running through the tail weeds.

this is one that is still young...once the plant turns tan, the foxtail splits into a dozen or more pieces, and that's when they can get caught in a dog's nose.  there are a ton of other types of weeds like this, but foxtails are usually what causes the main problems...because of their shape, they can only go in, not out.

Is she back home yet? Poor Honey how terrible for her! The plant reminds me a little bit of Barley...Hubby said he used to hate combining it as it hurt. Don't think that plant grows around here....we get snow instead!

The vet called at 7 pm saying that they got the foxtail out, but to wait until 9 pm to pick her up. The foxtail was at least 2" long, but it's out. Lucy cried all the way home...30 min car ride. She didn't stop until I laid down in bed with her, and any time I moved or dared try to move her an inch (she was laying near my shoulder and kept getting closer), she cried. Needless to say, it was a long night. But she's back to her normal self this morning.
