A young woman hit a deer and tore her car up pretty bad, she was able to drive it into our drive way and my hubby went down to the car and got her to come inside to use the phone.  She was shaking so bad and then when she called her husband she just started crying.  I felt so bad for her.  We took her up the road to her mother's house.  She was on the way up there to pick up her kids.  Her husband came by soon after to check the car out and then they've already had a wrecker pick it up.  We looked and looked for the deer, because I'm sure he/she is injured and needs to be put out of his misery, but there is no sign of  him.  I hate stuff like this but it surely is a common occurrance in my rural area.  Coming home from work one night, I counted 16 deer, grazing beside the road, all in small sets of 2 and 3 at the time.  I was a nervous wreck by the time I got home.

And yes, I've hit a deer myself.  Or rather the deer hit my rear passenger door, but he didn't do THIS much damage.

Well, I guess it really scared the poop out of that poor deer, and her poor car, and probably her too...Glad the young girl was not hurt too badly. I guess her airbag did not deploy? Not too far from my house, a lady hit a deer, and it came through her windshield, and rumor has it that the paramedics checked on the deer, before checking on her, when they got there! I have had them cross in front of me on late night drives. I hit a really big Opposum one time, and went back to check on it, and it was hissing at me, so I left him alone, and called animal control.

My goodness, glad she's ok, I've never hit one myself but have came close several times. I have been riding with someone and they hit one, the truck was smashed and the radiator was busted so we had to call a wrecker...the deer got up and ran off.

Yikes! I'm glad the woman was okay, even if she was upset. Gotta wonder what happened to the deer though.

That car looks nearly as bad as my poor car after my accident a few months ago...the headlight and radiator were smashed in further than that, so I wasn't able to drive it...it ended up being totaled.

I hit a deer once, well it was two following one another across the st, i hit the first one and the other one ran into my door too. my car hood popped up like that but it was almost bent straight across in the middle, & one of my headlights was busted. The deer I hit was lying in the ditch so I called a friend of mine who works for wildlife and fisheries and he came take care of it for me. I was shaken up, but still drove home, I refused to wash the blood of my car tho, i made my dad do it for me.

This is why my husband claims to be a deer hunter lol. Went I first met him I was like there is no way I could kill one of them ....but we do eat the meat and it does help with getting them off the road. We live in the middle of no where so we have lots of deer! I am so glad that the lady is okay

I didn't see one drop of blood on that car, nor any deer hair either.  But I think what will have to be washed off of it, is a whole lot nastier than blood.

We have the same problem here with tons of deer and a lot of accidents. Mary and I routinely count 30 - 60 deer on our way to work/school in the mornings. I'm glad she was ok. From the look of the car, the deer isn't likely to have made it.

We have that problem here too - well not HERE (in suburbia) but out a few hours where my hubby is from. I always fear hitting one and having the hooves come through the windshield at me.

I usually just hit cement walls with my car, way less blood.

I do hope they find the deer, car accidents are sooo scary. I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since mine but I still get nervous getting in the car now.

Poor girl. I've never hit a deer, but I did have an angry cow charge into my car one time, ad it was not fun. It could have been a lot worse, thank goodness she was fine.

The deer could have made it, I've seen them run away from alot worse. My mom can barley get insurance on her vechicles do to hitting 5+ deer in the past few years. we live in a national forest and right by a lake. So between those and the bear ,no ones hit a mountain lion yet, lots of care wrecks. Just glad no one got hurt by this wreck though.

ew. That deer probably ran off badly hurt which is bad but sometimes you just can't avoid them.  There's used to be tons of them in PA when I lived there and also when I was driving rural road at night up near Kennesaw, Georgia.  It's scary.  Mostly around here now people hit possums, raccoons and armadillos.  And squirrels...I hit a poor little squirrel a couple weeks ago...I felt so bad but there was no way to avoid him.  I think he died instantly.

once my dad hit a deer, going about 40 mph. He drove a mercury cougar, an older model when they were pretty big cars. Anway, the deer left a big hole in the front of the car, and it had to be totalled. The deer just walked away.
I hate driving at night because of deer, and I don't even live in a rural area. They are so hard to avoid.
