Lola looks like she has a small scratch or mark of some kind in the center of her eye, barely noticable.  That eye is a little watery.  It doesn't seem to be bothering her.  She's her usual spazzy self, and I imagine if it's a scratch she managed it while tackling her buddy Roger.  I know nothing about eyes (my own aren't so hot anyway), so I don't know how to react. How serious is a scratch to the eye? What should I do for her?

Thanks!

If it's not red or swollen, she probably just scratched it lightly. Eyes have moisture which is good for these injuries. I wouldn't worry just keep an "eye" on it for now. If theres discharge or redness, swelling you may want to see the vet. JMO... Hope that helps.

should go to the vet,  years ago my dog had a little scratch and I did not go to the vet and it got worse  when i did finally go it was too late. I eventually had to have the eye removed because I didn't go right away and get it treated.  Course she did do great for another 12 years after that happened but I always wish I went.  Young and stupid my dog paid the price.  She did live to be 17 years so I did learn alot from that little girl!!!

What looks like a little scratch can be very serious, I also encourage you to see the vet. I raised Boston Terriers for years before I found Ratties and Bostons are always injuring their eyes. Most injuries are easy to treat, eye ointment is easy to put in as are drops. But not treating by the vet can lead to infections and worsening of the problem, which in turn can lead to eye surgery which is very expensive!

ANYTHING WORTH DOING IS WORTH OVERDOING Mom of eight, only three left at home! Pack leader to ten ratties: Maggie, Mysty, Berry, Simon, Ceecee and five puppies, Star,Sari, Bluebelle, Double stuf, and Snortie. As well as Ginger the Border Collie and a herd of turkeys!

I would take her asap if you have not already to the vet.  Mine just had a hole in both eyes, one after the other.  I had to put 2 different drops in her eye and oral antiobotic meds.  It healed after several follow up visits to the vet.  She didn't seem to be in pain either but her eyes were very runny.  I don't think it will go away by itself.  She needs to see the vet........

Wow, that's scary! Thanks for the advice!  Her eye has totally cleared up and I wonder if she had a hair in it or something and it just looked like a scratch, but she's going to the vet Thursday at 4 anyway and I'll have her eyes checked.

Thanks!
