Have had puppy about a week now. She is 11 weeks. We bought her a playpen to stay in, in our game room while we are at work. Its 26 inches high. Big joke on us she climbs out. We went to our inlaws this weekend and used a playpen they had, it was not a cross hatch design like ours I figured well she wouldnt be able to climb out. Jokes on just now she jumps then scrambles over the top of that one.

She does very well in the crate at night. Last night she didnt even have to be let out to potty. (I need to double check when I get home that she didnt go in the crate but Im fairly sure since she never has before).

We reconfigured the playpen in the game room so that she can get to the door of the room (the playpen is open to one side). Should I keep it this way or should I stop using the crate for night and use it for the day time? She loves to sleep with us and usually I get her to go to sleep first then I put her in the crate and she is fine.

There is no way for me to get home during the middle of the day as I work too far away as does my husband. For the first week I was able to bring her to work. She stayed on my lap and in the crate and we went for 2 walks a day (plus some potty breaks). But now I cant bring her anymore (someone complained). I would almost feel better if I had a security camera in there that I could check online lol. I might have to set that up.

I miss her so much during the day

Amy

I am CERTAINLY no expert on crating since Yaz and I failed at it. But, if she is fine in it all night then she SHOULD be fine in it during the day.

I think the rule of thumb is that a puppy can hold it for 1 hour for each month....so at almost 3 months should at least be able to hold it for 3 hours. This is why I couldn't crate Mayfly when I got her...too young and we were gone 8-10 hours a day...hence the potty pads.

Ah, I know what you mean about missing them.  My husband & I rush home every day after work to see "our babies"

I guess for now she probably will be fine in the gameroom. Hopefully not eating cords to the game consoles (that is the area of the room that is blocked by the play pen). I hope that since now she can get to the door she wont try to explore the rest of the room lol. Maybe when she gets older I will switch to crate during day and sleep in bed with me at night.

She rides in the car with us either in the crate or sleeps on me
