If anyone needs more detailed directions, PM me!
Note: Chloe and I prefer the natural area across the way, so if this location doesn't suit everyone, it's a short walk to the more secluded natural area that is away from any cars/traffic. Please bring bags for pooh!
I'll meet everyone at the big sign just at the edge of the OLA. Hope to see you there!

| Ok, I found the map, but I am not sure where Sellwood is. I5 is on it, What river is that? What exit do you use? Would 405 be better to use? Lots of streets to get lost in, I am sure. Help! Please! |

*Copied from the Portland, OR meetup thread*
Just thinking.... If we were to plan 2 separate meetups... and the date (June 29th) that Terri suggested works for everyone... shouldn't we either just plan on the same day for "both" meetup locations, and just do Potso a few hours later? If Susan (and possibly others in Washington and/or others "outside" of Portland... still in Oregon) are driving a few hours (or more) to come to Portland, just wondering how likely anyone would want to make 2 separate trips -- to do 2 separate meetup dates -- with the gas prices the way they are???
I know Chrys said she could pick Terri up in Sellwood (if needed) and while I sure don't want to put a "damper" on Terri's Sellwood meetup at all... but it seems that to get the "max" number of Ratties (& their people) together all at one time, the best bet would be to do either both meetups on the same day, or only do it at one location? I AM willing to do just one meet-up at Sellwood, but I will NOT let my dogs off-leash in an unfenced area no matter what. So.... other opinions/feedback please? |

I believe the 29th works fine for me. Christine had said the morning wouldn't work so well for her due to church, but could we rethink it to 1sih? Or perhaps try Potso at 1 on the 29th? That way, if some of us can't do later, we could go to Sellwood and Potso would be later for those who may have morning engagements or need an enclosed area. Susan, Sellwood is actually going to be fairly close to OHSU. Well, depending on which place you park... If you park at the lower, riverfront campus, you will only need to hop on 43S (Macadam) and head south until you hit the Sellwood Bridge exit. Cross Sellwood Bridge and then turn left on SE 6th, left on Spokane, and right on Oaks Park Way. Sellwood Park is the park on your left. Not sure where the dog area is from there... If you go to the hilltop campus, you can head S on Terwilliger, left on Hamilton and another left on Bancroft. Right on Corbett and then, once you go under I-5, you can take a left on one of the side streets to hit 43S (Macadam). Then just follow it until Sellwood Bridge again... Not very difficult from that part of town, really. If you wanted to go to Potso, you just hit I-5 south. From there you can either get off at Haines exit to hit Dartmouth then take a left on 72nd or take i5 to 217. Take 217 N or W (whichever they call it- basically, to Beaverton) and stay in the right exit lane to get on 72nd. On 72nd, you make a right on Hunziker, follow it only like half a mile. It will go down a hill and at the bottom is a set of train tracks with a road (Wall, I believe) on the left. Turn left on Wall and you will see the park there behind the Coe Manufacturing building. It's on your right. Confused, anyone? lol Anyway, I'm open to Sellwood, but for Rowdy to run and play, I prefer taking him to enclosed dog parks, so Potso would be better for that. I feel bad taking him and keeping him leashed, but I'm always afraid something will happen. I'm a scaredy-cat! |

Hey everyone! I certainly don't want to make this meetup about me - and would like to make this meetup as as casual, and carefree as possible - which is why I suggested 2 meetups. So, if we need to changes some things around to make it more accomodating for everyone- I'm totally fine with that!!! 2 meets on same day sounds fine to me!! And I don't have a problem moving up the Sellwood meet to 1pm either if that works better! Or leaving it as is and making the Potso time later in the afternoon- or whatever people want to do. I was just trying to pick a time/date and make this as easy as possible. I totally get that many people are uncomfortable with the area not being fenced which is why I will have Bonnie on her leash (if I have her by then). And, if all goes well at Sellwood, and someone reaslly doesn't mind giving us a lift to Potso for that meet up (what time should that be?) too- we could do that! I don't want to make this meetup about me- aand would like to make this as casual, and carefree as possible - which is why I suggested 2 meetups. So, if we need to changes some things around- that works too. Susan, if the directions to Sellwood from Chrys are confusing.... PM me and we can exchange numbers and I can talk you through it. If you can get to OHSU- you can get anywhwere in Portland! This dog park is on the Willamette, just down the hill and across the river from OHSU. (That's where I work!) Let me know what everyone wants to do- and we'll do it. |
