Cricket had no problem starting to explore the house and went directly to my Mom on her own.  I edited out that statue that "offended" some.

Statue? Does your Mom live with you? She looks like a very sweet lady. I'll bet Cricket could tell.

There is no joy greater than being owned by a Rattie!!

The statue is a family heirloom, nudes, didn't think we should leave it in the pic. It's been around since Phil was young. It, unknowingly was in the pics when we first brought Cameo home.

Crickets paperwork says she is a rat terrier. I think she is a type B, as she is just about an inch to an inch and a half shorter than Ratty. In fact she reminds me of Ratty's mother. She is doing well already, and seems to have taken to Phil as well. She is a puppy mill dog and is very nervous when approached by someone who doesn't get down to her level. She has only been here an hour or so and is already starting to explore the house. She found one of the doggie beds in my room and is now in the process of washing herself. Zippy is doing much better as well, he is curled up on an old robe in my office with me. Oh the joys of the rattie pack. It is fun and Ratty is taking to all of this extremely well. I didn't think he would but he's handling it all in stride. Cameo loves everyone and every thing so no problems with her, and Zippy just wants to hump her but we are working to stop his humping behaviour. He stops when told to at least.

Yes, Phil's mom lives with us. She is a dementia patient and I am her full time care giver. She seems to like having the dogs around.

Yep Nora, we picked her up yesterday. She is from a puppy mill, but seems to be liking it here. She would run away if you walked towards her when we first brought her home. Now she just lays on a doggie bed in my room and watches us all. Cameo is being a little momma and taking care of Cricket. She washes her and sits with her and protects her. Cricket is  a good girl and I have yet to hear her make a sound of any kind. It will take time but she will be okay. She will make someone with patience and lots of TLC and she will be the perfect dog.

I'm loving this fostering thing, its fun and makes me feel better to know I'm helping somehow, even though its not much, its what I can do for such sweet, loving dogs. I just glad I can do something to give back some of the love this wonderful breed of dogs has given me.

even though its not much

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
opening up your home to poor little puppies who could very well have issues that you have to deal with every day, feeding them and loving them like your own, but not getting "too attached" cause youre going to have to give them to their new adoptive home?
NOT MUCH???? YA RIGHT! Foster parents (of animals and children) are angels.....you guys ROCK! I only WISH that I had the courage and space to do what youre doing!

And yes Mary it's not much, I just wish I could afford to do more. Like open a safe haven for all ratties in need. No matter how many there are. But I can't so I am trying to do what little I can. Without Phil none of this would be possible.

Janie and Phil, I get tired just reading about what all you do taking care of Grandma and the ratties. I hope that Phil's mom is getting some enjoyment in her later years with all the ratties around. I hope that Cricket and Zippy find their forever homes soon. I hope that God rewards y'all for all the good things you are doing.
