Brutus has been sneezing A LOT lately.  Is it possible it's allergies or should I be worried that it's something worse?  Is it something that the vet should be called for?  He's acting fine otherwise, I was even worried that maybe he was losing some weight (he's teething too and has been having a hard time chewing as his back molars are really loose), I just weighed him and he is up to 10 lbs... just 2 weeks ago he was only 9 lbs.. so he's apparently eating ok.  He's been itching his eyes on my carpet too, not a lot, mostly in the AM when he first gets up.  Do dogs get seasonal allergies?  And do we give them anything?

How old is Brutus now? Dogs do get allergies, but he is still young so 1. I wouldn't neccessarily assume it was anything even though he is acting fine otherwise, and 2. just like in kids, I am personally more cautious with puppies about giving them meds like Benadryl. As far as allergies go, this is the worst season by far in a long time around me for them, not sure how they are in your area. It couldn't hurt to check in with your vet with a simple phone call but I wouldn;t worry too much. Jack get stuffy and sneezy in the spring too, has since he was 5 months old.

Brutus is almost 6 months old.  And the pine pollen is ridiculous here this year, plus the poplar trees are going nuts, the fuzzies here are so bad we look like we're living in a snowglobe sometimes!!  So your dog gets "stuffy"?  can you actually tell that like when a kid gets a stuffy nose?  And I agree, I really don't want to have to give him anything, but I wasn't sure if the sneezing was bothering him.

Yes, but Jack has other immune problems too. But he will get a runny nose, snore and sneeze in the Spring. You can even see dried "crusties" in his nose from time to time, just like a child! LOL I know, like you needed to know that, hahaha.

Mayfly has allergies and her eyes have been watering off and on all spring. Mitzy is my sneezer when the pollen gets really bad - sometimes it's regular sneezing and sometimes reverse sneezing. And Skipper gets congested and coughs...I give them all either children's benedryl or lotoradine (generic Claritin but NOT Claritin D). Since he's a pup I'd check with your vet first before giving anything...JMO

Molly has bad allergies this year, goopy eyes and all. For some reason, she thinking rubbing her face in the dry grass/weeds will help her. Crazy dog.
If Brutus started sneezing suddenly and kept sneezing uncontrollably (you'd know it if you saw it), I'd worry about foxtails getting inside his nose. In the past, I've had to make several trips a year to the vet over those things either in their nose, eye or ear. But it sounds like he may just have bad allergies...check with your vet before you give him anything, though.

Yes.. .that's exactly what he has been doing.. it hadn't even occur to me that he may be reverse sneezing too.  He did that a couple of times over the weekend and I thought he had something caught in his throught.  He hasn't done the reverse sneeze since sunday, but the regular sneezing is still happening.  He's acting very playful and seems to be eating ok (other than the teething problem).  Maybe even too playful, as I'm typing this I heard him run and stop and sneeze... much to my surprise he is also carrying my sons (adult) size 13 sneaker around!!  No wonder he's sneezing, I can't believe he didn't faint from the smell, plus the thing probably weighs more than he does!!
