Holly is so good with the wild ducks when they are here, so they are getting more and more friendly each day. We had a beautiful sunny day on Thursday... and Holly was out sun bathing. She heard the ducks flying in for their late afternoon bread feast... and she wakes up all ready for action.  Holly tried to sneak right in... hoping we wouldn't notice she didn't have feathers... so we'd throw some bread to her too.

Giving up on having any of the bread (like a good girl) I asked Holly if she wanted some dinner... and she did like that idea!

Holly is one beautiful dog! That first photo is a little on the scary side though.

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too

She is beautiful girl but that 2nd picture is downright scary!  She looks like a hyena going for the kill.

OMG! I can't believe she didn't go after the ducks. They would have been goners in my yard.

The "scary" picture was kind of an accident. I got the camera out because Holly looked so cute laying in the sun, and had her head up looking sort of like Bambi.... until I got the camera... then she put her head down. I had the camera ready... just waiting for her to pick up her head again... but she heard the ducks coming... and that's the shot I ended up with instead!

Vicki - The ducks have been coming almost every day for almost 2 months. At first Holly would chase them, but when we scolded her she finally started to think of them as part of the family.... AND the possible chance of sneaking some of their bread!

Ah, where's her tail?

Vickie

Holly has NO tail at all... not even a nub!! When we adopted her, I knew nothing about Ratties.. and thought someone had chopped her tail completely off!  In searching online to learn about Rat Terriers I ended up on a breeders message board, and asked about her "no tail" and they told me she was a natural bob tail. It's so strange... because the bone where her tail would start,  just ends at the end of her spine. She does have just this tiny little "flap" of skin with hair on it that hangs down to cover her "brown eye" if you know what I mean!  But... she has absolutely no "control" over the flap of skin, so there is no tail "wag" at all. She also doesn't wiggle her hind end to make up for it,  like some dogs do. All of Holly's expression of happy, sad, fear etc. come from what she does with her ears... so we call them her ear-o-meters!!

Jules-- .
I had such a chuckle what I read your post... because I've thought that about Holly myself! Being a bit "chubby" myself. .. I guess I've always admired Holly's great figure!   She as already named "Holly" by the rescue when we adopted her... and thought at the time it was just a fine name... and never even considered changing it... but since then have wondered if we should have named her "Barbie" with that super model figurel!

Mary...

I do love it too, but she will never be a Bailey,  in the head tilt department!  Holly only tilts her head when you ask if she wants dinner, or if you ask if she want to go sleepin' -- her 2 favorite things to do everyday -- just like clockwork!
