Remember how bad this was? While blemished, he looks better than I thought he would.

Jens son (The NOML) left a gate partially open and decided to chase the horses in at dinner time. The first two horses cleared it but Levi caught the top corner and it sliced him wide open. The NOML is back living with his Father who never did anything for or with him his first twelve years. (NOML = Not Of My Loins)

Levi is a very beautiful horse. He is a AQHA Registered Gelding. He was Gelded late and has sired nine babies.

how long ago did this happen? I'm glad he's doing better. I had an AQHA growing up...he was a stud for the first half of his life (who knows how many babies he sired during that time), my parents got him when he was about 14 yrs old...Clem lived to be 34.

Wow! Great healing. I'm so glad that it healed as well as it did. You have a beautiful horse. Sorry that the NOML was so irresponcible. Hopefully, he learned a lesson through what your horse had to suffer through.

YEOUCH! I'm glad NOML is no longer around to be stupid near the critters, and even more glad that Levi healed so well. You probably can't even see the scar when he's in gear and being ridden I'll bet. Good job taking care of that nasty gash.

Wow, Levi looks wonderful. I thought there would be more of a scar indentation. It looks better then I could have possibly imagined. Thanks for sharing.

This happened this past November 1 around 5 in the evening. Poor Levi was so drugged up when the Vet was putting him back together and he kept trying to "Set Up" like he was in a class at a show. That is the one thing I wil always remember about that night.

Gary, Levi looks wonderful! At least it is not covered in white hair. Nice job in getting that to heal up.

Amazing what a good vet and good after care can do! He looks great and I bet, at least with western saddle, you can't see it at all.

He's healed up a lot better than we all thought he would! Is that area on his side tender now?

Not at all!

Considering the wound is only six months old, I am guessing that by this time next year the blemish shall deminish a good bit more. He also has age & healthiness on his side. He is a very good example of what you want in this breed and that is all due to breeding and proper care.

He sounds like a wonderful guy. I haven't been around horses very much, so I'm a little afraid of them.
