Hi guys, I need some advise about a few things.

- What kind of flea prevention do you guys used and why? And how often do you give it to the dog? I want  to use Frontline but some people said it's very toxic and could damage the liver.

- How to prevent getting a worm? Daxter got hookworm, tapeworm and whipworm. How to minimize the chance of getting it again and do you guys run a fecal test a few times a year just to check up?

He is 4 years old, I know puppy will have worm but is it common for adult dog to have worm?

Thanks!

I use frontline for fleas (which in turn helps prevent against tapeworms). Jack had reactions to the Advantage. I apply it about every 6 weeks during flea season. For Heartworm I use interceptor which also protects against hookworms, whipworms and roundworms, they get that 1 x month.

Frontline or Advantage don't enter the bloodstream so they don't effect the liver like a product like Revolution.  I've always used Frontline Plus and HeartGuard  in the past.   This year I'll give my guys  Interceptor  from June 1 to Nov 1, most likely.  I'll probably also give them one dose of Frontline before heading up to my cousins cabin in Michigan to protect against ticks, and maybe another dose later in the summer.  A dose of Frontline is supposed to kill fleas for 3 months.

Lucky was diagnosed with whipworms once from a fecal exam and a few days of meds cleared it up.  They usually get an annual exam.

Good info, thanks Ski & Sarah. Daxter got Panacur C to treat his worm for 6 days and then I supposed to start Interceptor and Frontline starting June 1.
