Today was brutal as far as rescue goes. My heart is totally breaking today for so many dogs. When I feel this bad I really like to think of all the happy dogs in the world and remember there are good people doing right by their dogs. I think of my rescues and know they have a safe place to rest and will be protected from harm and no longer be scared in a shelter. Please show me there is happiness and people do right with their babies.............. |

A couple months earlier, my Eddie was scared and alone in a shelter after his family dumped him. They said he was an escape artist - think it had anything to do with being INTACT? Dah.....Now he is fat and happy!

I understand your pain on days like this. And you're right. Pics like these help. But keep in mind how much good you've done to help so many babies. That should make you smile, too. |

I posted this earlier but to me this is a great photo of Taffy our rescue dog. She is 8 years old and was a puppy mill breeder dog who was tossed to a kill shelter with three others when she grew too "old" to have litters. When she came to us, she had horrible teeth, acted so old and seemed afraid of everything. NOW, she is healthy, loves us and is learning to play!! She even starts play now with Aka.
In this photo, she looks very happy and content and totally cute!!!
and in the second, she had totally gotten hooked into GrandMargie sharing her icecream at night!!
Love all the photos in this thread. It is great to see everyone in one long thread!!! I like happy photos when I have had a tough day too! |

Ok so this thread made me tear up and remember why it is worth the heartbreak in the beginning to see a happy end. So many dogs in good homes thanks to wonderful people like all of us. I soooo needed this thread. The two pics that really choked me up were Mary's Trixis and Toa sleeping in the sun and Paul's Bo and Lucy running. How content and happy. I wish all dogs had lifes like the ones all of you provide for your fur babies. I love this site, it can make me happy again. |

When you own a Rattie....you KNOW you are in your right mind
THE MEANING OF RESCUE
Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed, All nicely tucked in my warm new bed. I'd like to open my baggage Lest I forget, There is so much to carry - So much to regret. Hmm... Yes there it is, right on the top Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss, And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame. As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave - I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain. I loved them, the others, the ones who left me, But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me. Will you add to my baggage? Will you help me unpack? Or will you just look at my things - And take me right back? Do you have the time to help me unpack? To put away my baggage, To never repack? I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see, But I do come with baggage - Will you still want me?

I love this thread of everyone's babies.
I love both of my babies in different ways equally, but CoCo has never had any doubts of love or ever had to feel like she wasn't the first priority. She is spoiled and has been since the day she was born.
I know Gus's former owner wasn't a bad person by any means, but Gus wasn't given the attention he deserved. He wasn't someone's whole world like he is now. Sometimes he'll just look at me and you can SEE how much he loves me, and how much he loves being here with Rick, CoCo and I. He looks at us like he needs us and that is the best feeling in the world. I look at him and I KNOW that one of the best things I ever could have done was to decide to take him home and love him. He's such a mess, but he's my mess, and I could never even fathom him not being someone's whole world.
