Bob LOVES to eat the dog food that my mom feeds her little poodle.  It's some cheap kind, like Kibbles & Bits or Old Roy.   It makes him very gassy, so I try to put up the bowl before Bob gets to it.

Hubby says that Bob was very gassy yesterday when I was at work.  It was so bad, that Bob would have to move away after he farted.  Hubby said his eyes were watering from the stench.

I have tried to educate her about quality dog food, but she says she can't afford the good stuff.  I guess you can't teach an old grandma new tricks.  I feel bad for her dog because his teeth look awful.

Ewww...poor Bob (and poor hubby!) I know how it is with the poor quality food. . . our friend at the lake has a little chihuahua (he can't weigh 2 lbs. and is so skinny) but she's feeding him Ol' Roy and they're just the same about not spending the $$ for "good" food, but really, how much can a 2 lb chihuahua eat? Probably 1/4 of what Daisy does and she only gets about 1 cup per day (maybe a little extra some days). Geesh! I could maybe see feeling the pinch if it was a Great Dane or Mastiff or something, but goodness!

My mom also buys Casper Pedigree canned food. I've brought baggies of Bob's food over to her house, and Casper has loved it!

Having to run out and buy a bunch of pedigree cans is probably more expensive than buying a big bag of Canidae or another, better dog food. You can actually save money on better foods, because you don't have to feed as much at a time.
Did you mention the whole "euthanized pets in dog food" issue? That usually turns people around...
