Has anyone heard or use Banfield's wellness plan? they rent space from petsmart i think but are separate from them?
anyway a co-worker from work said she used it for her dogs and i was wondering who on here uses it or think that its worth investing in or not.
if you arent sure what it is, here is a link to the home page http://www.banfield.net/
i was looking at the minimum amount, which is like 16 something a month for all of the things listed.
any opinions or actual personal use and advice would be great. |

| If you can find a good vet there that you trust it maybe good but some of the experiences my clients have had there with the inexperienced vets have not been good. |

I have Banfield for both of my girls. I love it, and love the main vet there. I have no problems with it. But, like Ivy said, you have to be comforable with the vets there. I like it because so much is included, and I don't have to pay for office visits when I go, and I go often. And I like that it spreads the cost of basic care through out the year, so no big vet bill at one time. Plus discounts on any meds needed. Good luck. |

It sounds well priced, I guess I'd just suggest you take the dog for a check up and see if you like the vet. If you do, go for it. If you don't, then either don't, or maybe try again next time but make sure you get a different vet (they have more then one). I'm with the others; reviews on Banfield themselves just varies, and it's really just becuse of the various vets. So if you find a good vet, great... and if you don't... But I'd just try the vet out for a normal visit before you make a commitment, if you can... If you can't, if you have a friend with a dog, see if they go there or would be willing to? Then you can just tag along and meet the vet. They don't have to know you're a casual acquaintance of the dog, not a family member. Another way, if you're bold, is to hang out in Petsmart, or outside of petsmart depending on how yours is set up, and when you see a client going in, or about to, just ask them if they like them, and if they do, ask which vet. It's bold though, since it means approaching strangers, but I'd approach strangers with pets over random strangers anyday. I'll often strike up conversations in the pet aisle of stores... lol... if you talk about pets, pet people light up and are very friendly. Just use good judgment and don't stop someone who looks hassled, of course! |

We've used a local Banfield clinic here for many years, and have both of our dogs on their wellness plan. For us it has worked out really well. The clinic we use has 3 of the same vets still there from when we first took our previous dog Millie there 12+ years ago. I love that they get 2 free comp exams per year (plus any needed vacinations) but for us the unlimited free office visits have been a huge savings. Holly especially over the years seems to constantly have some "little thing" going on that I might have decided to just 'watch' for a day or two before deciding to take her in to the vet... but with the free office visits I just call in and make an appointment to take her in... because it's best for my own peace of mind!
Like others have said... all Banfields may be very different as far as quality of care, available vets etc. so you might want to ask to talk to some of the vets there to see if you think this will be a good fit for you. I'm pretty open most of the time to seeing whatever vet is on duty that day, but if I have a real concern about something I will normally request to come in on a day that one of the "3 old timers" are there. |

Oh and I have the lowest plan, If I ever need to have anything In the other plans I will just bump up my plan I started low as well, covers alot, so far I am pleased as far as the price and what it includes, compaired to office call.heartworm test, shots, ect... the price for the whole year plan is cheaper than 1 office call with the tests and such for both dogs, and unlimited office calls free,is such a plus, because I am a worry wort |

oh wow, well i guess if i go to the right one with the right vet, then it is a good deal. thanx everyone. i know neville88 is on the lowest plan, do any of you have an upgrqaded one? do you think that the lowest is find and doesnt need much else? my co worker thst told me about it basically said the same thing about the vet and one not, but also i am wondering, while i am in school, the nearest petsmart is over and hour away, like almost an hour and a half. would that still be worth it or safe to do that? i mean there are like 3 vets in te town so if it was an emergency, i guess i would just go there, but that is the closest petsmart tough... opinions welcome, thanx! |
