We have been feeding Shemp, Natures Variety. He likes it. No runs. He must poop 5-6 times a day. He is a pooping machine. I swear he is converting oxygen to poo. He gets about two cups a day. A cup in the am and one in the pm. Our neighbor suggested low fiber food. The current food is labeled 5% fiber. That sounds low to me. Alright, guys. Hit with me with the real deal. And yes, I know I stink at posting pics. My mom has the same complaints regarding pics of my kids. |

if you want a low fiber kibble, try a grain-free kibble...Innova Evo has 2.5% fiber, for example. I don't know which Nature's Variety you're feeding him now, but they make grain-free kibble too...their fiber ranges between 2 and 3.5% you could check out dogfoodproject.com for more info. |

| I was switching to EVO but both my dogs were having very loose stools. We've been on Wellness Core for about a week and the stools firmed right up within 2 feedings. I was told the EVO is a great quality food (I feed it to my cats), but some sensitive dogs can't handle it. Wellness has lower percentage of protein and fat (so easier for sensitive dogs), but grain free just like EVO. Watch the amounts - my 45-lb very active lab is getting 2 cups per day on Wellness, so that seems like a lot for a rattie. Paisley is getting 1 cup but we are trying to put weight on her - probably go down to 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup per day when we get her where we want her. |

| We went with 1 1/2 - 2 per day, since that is what he's foster mommy was feeding him. Figured, Paula knows best. He is extremely active and has no fat on him. |

| All foods are different - so that might be just right - you might want to consider it as a reason he is poopin' so much. |

Two cups sounds like a lot of food to me, but of course I don't know how much Shemp weighs or what type of NV you're feeding. Pooping a lot can be a sign of over feeding so I would cut back a bit on the quantity and see if that helps. For those that tried EVO but stopped because of the runs, the high fat is usually the culprit, not the high protein. My dogs do great on reduced fat EVO, which is, I believe, 15% fat vs the 22% of the regular EVO. |

| Thanks for the info on the EVO. I was kind of disappointed after 10 days of gradual switch because it was doing great things for Moose's coat, but things were so loose. I was told Wellness is very similar (actually he had me just switch it out) and my dogs are doing well. I want to add in raw, but that is another thread of questions! |

| I give mine Orijen & Timberwolf, I mix it in 1/4 cup in the am & pm. His stool is solid good and he mostly goes 2 times sometimes 3 times. Daxter weight about 15.5 lbs. |

Geez I don't know. He certainly looks healthy but that does seem like ALOT of food so it makes sense he would need to poop alot. Yaz eats Solid Gold Just A Wee Bit. She is 12lbs and gets 3/8 cup am & pm and poops 2x daily like clockwork. |

Got the 2.5% fiber Evo food. Reduced the food to a little more than one cup a day. Shemp is down to 2-3 poops a day. Thanks everyone |
