I set this little course up this afternoon.  It is already getting hot enough here that you can't be comfortable outside for very long.  I was sweating pretty bad by the time I got all the pieces out there and I hadn't even brought the dog out. Red Neck Agility course The ramp Just a jump Hoop Jump More jumps Weave poles

The weave poles are way to short.(Hubby didn't follow my instructions) and Amos isn't having none of getting up on that little ramp thingy.  Nuh Uh! No Way.

I was pleased with the way that the Hoop jump turned out and the other jumps were just kinda put together.  Did not drag out the lounge chair for a "pause" table either.  Guess I wait  until I actually get the tunnel.

Here's a few of Amos actually jumping throught the hoops. Over the jumps through the hoop through the hoop

Very cool Kim!  Love the pic of Amos going through the hoop.  Great exercise for your "rat beast" LOL!

BTW - we actually have some "redneck" horse jumps at the barn...unpainted poles with a jump standard at one end and a lawn chair holding the pole at the other!  My old trainers would be so embarassed if they saw those!

And last but not least, I took my daughter's dog Smooshy outside to the course.  He did ok on the weave poles, but when it came to the jumps......"Yeah, right....You want me to jump through that?  I don't think so." Smooshy says "You gotta be kiddn'"

And Amos says "Ma, it's hot out here! Can we go inside now???? Ma, it's hot, let's go inside

Awesome job & great pictures..GO AMOS GO!!

What did you use to make the tire & diamond jump?? I would love to make something like this for Spanky, the "cat" walk would be his favorite thing!

When you own a Rattie....you KNOW you are in your right mind

THE MEANING OF RESCUE

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.
Hmm... Yes there it is, right on the top
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things -
And take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never repack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?

The diamond jump is nothing but some left over PVC pieces that I put elbows on then made the frame from PVC.  We use those type frames for our parrots to sit on when they are out of their cages, so it was no trouble putting those together.  I got a big roll of red duct tape at Big Lots for like $2.  So the duct tape is decorating everything. LOL  The hoop jump is 2 pool noodles that I cut to make a circle and then duct taped together.   The hoop frame was a parrot stand that I already had made.

If it were only 50 degrees here, I'd probably freeze half to death.  LOL  But come July, I'd probably choose that as an option.

Smooshy is a great dog, but he ain't all about no agility!  Really Amos isn't either.  He's just in it for the treats!

Oh yeah, and my stinkin' yard is the size of a foot ball field.  Not exaggerating 4 x around is almost 1 mile.  Sigh....it takes a lot of gas to cut a yard that size.......what was I thinking when I placed the house so far back from the road.

Your equipment turned out great... and how nice to have all that room to make it like a real agility course!  Lucy was in agility before she went blind, and I had a little course set up in our backyard for her.. but there was hardly ANY space to move between one thing to the next!

Kim -- how AWESOME is that!!! This will provide some great exercise and training opportunities for both you and Amos! I'm very very impressed! Pause tables are easy to make... am sure your husband can do it. One friendly suggestion... make sure the plank on the brick-o-blocks (that's what we call them here in hillbilly country) is such that it can't slide off if hit at an angle. Don't want anything scaring Amos!!

Kim, on the plank "bridge", you could turn the blocks with the open space up.  Then, at each end of the plank, on the underside, drive four nails just halfway into the wood so no sharp points stick through on top (mark the right position with a marker to fit just inside the open block space).  Replace the plank , nails down in the openings.  That would keep the plank from shifting at all.

Looks like a cool course. If it were really redneck, you would have used old truck and tractor tires.

I got the tunnel that I ordered in today.

I was so excited that I went right outside and set it up for Amos!  I finally found something I could use those "too short" weave polls for.  I'm using them to stablize the tunnel.

My hubby was very doubtful that Amos would run into that tunnel.  He said, "I gotta see you trying to get that dog to go through that thing.  It's gonna scare him to death!"  So he came outside and stood  under the car port with his arms crossed waiting to see me make a fool of myself trying to get Amos to go in the tunnel.  Or So He Thought!  LOL

Amos ran right into it!  Then he did all of his jumps in row and ran through the tunnel at the end!    Hubby went right back in the house, 'cuz he didn't have anything he could  make fun of!

Here's a few shots of Amos with the tunnel.  I can't take pictures while I'm getting him to run the course 'cuz I use my hands to signal him through the course. Amos Tunnel 4 Amos tunnel 3 Amos tunnel Amos tunnel 2
