Which location would you choose to go on vacation with a 3 year old? We won a vacation for a 4 day/3night trip to a few locations but only really want to go to these two. We know nothing about these places and I am looking to see if someone can share with me what would be the better place to take my 3 year old.
Thanks for any imput!!! |

| I have never been to Branson but my kids loved the Smokey Mountains both times they have been. If you like shopping they have that too! lol |

I love the Smokey Mountains and can't wait to go again and they have alot of great family things to go to including Dollywood. And the Aquarium of TN and lots of other stuff. |

| I'm all about the Smokey Mts. Your son would LOVE the aquarium in Gatlinburg, but pass on the Ripley's believe it or not museum. The shopping in Pigeon Forge is awesome and there is soooo much to do for every age group. If you go Pigeon Forge, try the Parrot Mountain. This is a zoo-type experience that you just walk around to see. If your son enjoys colorful birds, this is definately a good place to see. |

Personally for me Donna I think the Smokey Mountains are wonderful. Branson is ok, but it is mostly older folks going to see the shows etc.... Whereas the Smokey Mountains have tons more to do for kids..... There is also Dollywood which is fun too. Years ago my parents owned a chalet there and we had many wonderful times there in the Smokey Mountains..... How cool to win a trip! You guys enjoy! Lynn |

I say smokey mountains..... They also have dixie stampede.... a place where you eat with your fingers and watch the horses shows, and there's cades coves, which is a loop, i can't remember how long, but more for sight seeing the fields and old log homes back in the old days, which takes a couple of hours to get thru... and you can do picnic there if you like...
My husband and I went there for our honeymoon, and we liked it so much that we went back there again for our vacation....and someday we would love to take our kids there and live there for a week or two. we stayed in pigeon forge and visited gatlinburg.
plus the weather should be nice there.... and it's beautiful at this time of the year... |

Thank you all for your input!!! I would really like to go to the Smokey mountains but my husband really wants to go to Branson... LOL It is a matter of which place will be more suitable for our 3 year old. I have two target interests in this trip, 1) picture opportunity and 2) my 3 year old having a great time. I know we will have a great time as long as those two needs are met. So based on that the Smokey mountains still sounds good to me... LOL My husband is making me think about it for a few days before we book our days but I don't see me changing my mind.
Thank you and I will let you know which one we choose!!! |

| I am four hours from Gatlinburg. I've been there many many times throughout the years. It's BEAUTIFUL... and a great place to take the kids. Pigeon Forge is more "kid" oriented... right outside of Gatlinburg. You may even want to consider staying in Pigeon Forge and driving to Gatlinburg (it's very touristry... lots of shops, etc.). Your son will enjoy riding the tram up into the mountains too! |

My little one is a train freak.... he would LOVE LOVE LOVE that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok it is settled, we are going to TN!!! LOL And actually will be staying in Pigeon Forge so that sounds even better from what you describe as being " kid oriented"... that is what I was looking for!!!

Glad you chose the Smokies. I lived in MO for 6 years and traveled to Branson several times for school district meetings etc. did take my mom to see the Lawrence Welk show when she came to visit.
Branson is about 2 miles long of show theatres. I don't remember much kid friendly stuff except for a few shows. And I agree that it tends to be the older tourists that go there. Not knocking it down but I was not that taken with it. Some good shows and of course beautiful scenery but I doubt either of those would amuse a 3 year old for long. |
