I am not a big fan or having the dogs sleep in bed with us, because I move so much through the night, but I didn't want them sleeping on the floor either so this was our solution....we brought an armchair up in the bedroom when we got Fred so it's like an extension of our bed. Well Alice now likes it too so they both smash in there. I hope in the summer it's not to hot otherwise we are going to have to have 2 armchairs in our bedroom!!

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too

I forgot to add, just because they start in the chair they don't always end up there. Sometimes I wake up and Fred is in the chair sometimes Alice and sometimes they both crawl into bed with us anyway!! They move during the night, probably more than me!!

My parents have a cedar chest at the end of their bed, and they bought a wicker dog basket and filled it with blankets and pillows for the dogs. Gee, and growing up, dogs were never allowed on the bed or any furniture...we actually had to put stuff on the couch to keep the dogs off when we went to bed at night. And the dogs didn't even have a doggie bed!

That is funny, we put newspapers on our furniture growing up too so the dogs wouldn't jump up on them!! My how times have changed now we have armchairs in the bedroom

Poor Amos! I tried sooo hard to get him to sleep in the bed with me when he was little. He couldn't be still! Nor would he settle down and sleep. He just wanted to play and play. So he had to sleep in the crate, now he prefers the crate and actually spends a LOT of time in there during the day with the door OPEN. He's not allowed on the furniture either. I guess I'm a bad Mama, compared to the rest of ya'll.

Nope, you're not Kim, you just value your sleep. I have ONE who occasionally gets to sleep in the bed but the others are up down turn around too much for my taste since I am a light sleeper. Now that they are older I occasionally give them the option but they are too used to sleeping in their own spaces.
