Nibbler's cousin Niro (my cousin's dog) is having potty troubles. He has liquidity poop and everytime she has taken him to the vet they just give him some more medicine. He's now on Amoxicillian and Metronidazol (SP??) They are waiting on results from his pancreatic screening but as of right now, the vet has no clue what's wrong with him

The pumpkin isn't working anymore. Any clue?? Any ideas on how to help him have more solid pottys?

when are the results from the pancreatic screening due in? Sounds like it might be time for a second opinion.

Bonita, I am by no means an expert, but anytime a pet or human is on antibiotics of any kind they can lead to loose stools. Sounds like this pup has other things going on possibly....but the antibiotics definitely won't help the situation.... How about boiled rice.... Poor darlin'....sure hope he gets to feeling better.....

The results came back normal. She's taken him to 3 vets, they're baffled. He is healthy besides the pooping. It's just always runny, but he is on a high quality dog food, they have ruled out food allergies, they thought it was an enzyme thing, but the pancreatic test ruled that out. It is more frustrating for his owner than for him.

I agree with Lynn. If he has been on all sorts of ABx that will only add to the problem. I would start by adding some probiotics to his food to at least re-establish the healthy bacteria that is needed. How much food does she feed him, she could be overfeeding. Has she tried a grain-less food? It can take up to 12 weeks of being on a new food to see a difference. I would start with these things and see if they help. If 3 vets are seeing nothing then it may just be the dogs digestive system. What about Irritable Bowel? Sounds kinda like that. I googled it real quick and here is some info that popped up:

Dogs and cats are always eating things they shouldn't, which is why vomiting and diarrhea are so common in pets. But when they are getting sick for weeks or months instead of days, they could have a more serious digestive problem called inflammatory bowel disease.

Veterinarians aren't sure what causes inflammatory bowel disease, although they suspect it occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks tissues in the digestive tract. Food allergies or problems with the pancreas may play a role in causing it. Even hair balls, which irritate the intestines, may be involved.

The convention therapy for inflammatory bowel disease is to give medications to stop the symptoms: steroids to suppress the immune system and sometimes antibiotics to control bacteria in the gut. Holistic veterinarians, on the other hand, believe it is possible to cure inflammatory bowel disease by strengthening the body's organs, especially the digestive and regulatory organs like the pancreas and live, and by helping the immune system work the way it is supposed to.

The Signs of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Your cat is vomiting alot

Your dog or cat has chronic diarrhea

There is blood in his stools

Your pet is losing weight, has diarrhea, and is vomiting

Give Digestive Enzymes
