Interesting! I rescue for Russell Rescue... I wonder if I should list him on petfinder as a Rat Terrier rather than a Jack Russell? I would love to keep him but already have 3 dogs and 4 is the limit in the town I live in. If we were to keep him I would not be able to do any more rescue. Is there a good Rat Terrier rescue in So. Ca.? He is a very sweet guy who was taken to the shelter after being hit by a car. He sat for 30 days and no one came to get him. He appears to be a purebred as his dewclaws have been removed and his tail docked. His time was up and I had been keeping an eye on him via their website. I inquired about him and rescued him after I found out he didn't have any more time. He is house and crate trained and gets along really well with small dogs but doesn't like big dogs at all. He still has some abrasion healing but other than that he has no other injuries from being hit. I am not familar with Rat's personalities but he is nice but a little more timid than my Jacks. He will let them jump all over him and then just get up and run around so they can chase him some more. They don't hurt him, they are smaller and are just playing with him. They run out of energy before he does though because his legs are so dang long!
If anyone has any ideas on how I can find Jake a wonderful forever home I would really appreciate it. I am going to be picky about where he goes because he has been through too much for a 12 month old dog and deserves to be loved and cared for. |
