To start looking for homes for my pups? I want to be able to find the best, most loving and safest home for them that I can. The pups are 2 weeks, almost, old. so my question is when is it too soon??? |

| I believe many breeders have homes lined up even before breeding their dogs. |

| A lot of people look for homes just a few days after the pups are born. I suppose there is no time that is too early. |

| When I've gotten pups, they've always been at least 8 weeks old. |

That's when they are old enough to be released to the buyer but good breeders have buyers lined up long before then. I was talking to Mayfly's breeder for weeks before I actually picked her up at 9 weeks old.

| yeah, I found my ratties online when they were about 5-6 weeks old, and talked to the breeder, but didn't get them until they were about 8 weeks old. |

Hi Mitsy's mom
I just got my rattie, Nora from a breeder when she was 8 weeks and the breeder seemed responsible--There was another buyer who knew her and was picking up one to actually work as a ratter.
My question is you said that most good breeders have the owners lined up before born--I think--
I wanted to see a pic and choose my girl, do you think that a reputable breeder can do that? I know it is to late to second quess, and the breeder seemed to be doing it not just to make money--I also have access to her pedigree up to great grandfather--
best

Not all reputable breeders have potential buyers lined up, and even if they do the potential buyers might not get a puppy from the next litter, but might wait for a while. I think it's best to choose a BREEDER before you look for a puppy, talk to them, then choose a puppy from a litter once they are older, so you can get a puppy that matches you. If you choose a puppy from a certain litter while it's very little, you could end up with a puppy that might be too aggressive, energetic, ect. for you. |

Thanks Emg--I finally read abou the my forums thing and can see who has responded
I tood a change--looked at pups on line and when I saw nora, contacted her breeder who really seemed good, cause she has a horse farm and only does a couple litters a year. I got Nora at 8 weeks and we bonded right away. Don't know if it is luck or fate, or if I actually could tell her nature from the picture--but I was sure she was the one---
I am nuts about her--
