So I went and got the drops and thought they would be easier to get into Alice's eyes, it's not.

She is such a wiggle worm I had them all over her face and I think one made it in one eye. I finally pinned her down and got them in. She HATED me, as soon as it was done she went right upstairs to bed and ignored me when I called her. WHen her eyes are better she will know I was trying to help. For 11 pounds it was a tough match.

Fred just sat there looking miserable but he tolerated it. I wish Alice would learn by example!

Anyway 7 days of this, it seems like forever.

I have to give Mitzy an eye drop every morning (to keep her eye pressure down).  What I do is hold her on my lap, pull the bottom eye lid down after positioning eye drop bottle, then squeeze a drop in.  Immediately give a yummy treat.

She was a wiggle worm at first too but now she jumps in my lap and waits for her eye drop so she can get her treat.  If Alice is too wiggly you may have to have your hubby hold her but once she figures out a treat come next then hopefully she'll be better about it.

we have to give Mic drops in both eyes every day, at first he hated it so what we did was put him up on our level... like on a counter, or the washer. Sometimes we had to muzzle him just because he calms down with it on, other times he was ok, but we would talk calmly to him and bring the bottle (drop ready to drip from the bottle) from behind. Coax his chin up and slowly bring the dropper above his eye and "drip!" then give treats immediately!

Now he's so used to it he loves the drops He comes running when he hears "eye droppies!" and sits nicely on the floor and lifts his head

I hope they're better soon!!! eye problems are no fun

Some dogs are just that way...sorry you have to deal with that.
Lucy is such a wiggle worm/drama queen that giving her a pill is a nightmare. I finally got her to take pills somewhat okay when she only had 2 pills left to take. She did get a treat imediately afterward, though. I'm hoping (like you), that she will figure out that what I was doing helped her feel better.
I hope both Alice and Fred get over this soon.

I do treat right after but I will have to try some of these suggestions. maybe putting her up on something. When two of us try it's almost embarrassing because sometimes she wins and gets away.  I am hoping she realized after the trauma that it makes her feel better. I try to go real slow and talk calmly to her but I think she likes the wrestling game part.  Tonight we do it again, I hope each time gets better. I hope one day she is as good and the Micster and Mayfly- it will be the last day of the drops I bet.

I once had to put drops in my son's eyes when he was two months old! He was about as easy to do as Alice.
