Yes, Bob killed a rat right in front of me. The neighbors had recently torn up their backyard including a giant area of ivy. Well it was full of rats. So for a few weeks after we'd see rats cruising along the fence in our backyard.

Well, one night I was doing laundry in the garage and Bob was out there with me. (Of course where else would he be except right next to me!) I was loading the dryer when something caught my eye. It was a rat running straight up the wall. Well Bob was all over it. As soon as it got about 2 feet up the wall Bob grabbed it in a split second and shook it so hard. All I heard was a squeak and that was it. Man, he was quick! Bob laid down his trophy and was so proud. And so was I. What a good little ratter!!

Does the bunny rabbit I found in my hallway after my daughter let Skittles in the back door at 10:30 at night count?

Obviously she did not pay attention to what Skittles had in her mouth!

Does this make her a "bunny terrier" instead?

Apollo killed a mouse this summer in our yard. I assume it came from where they are still building houses in our development. He did the killer rattie head shake to it.

Bingeaux hasn't found any rats yet, but he has got 2 possum kills under his belt. The first one was at my house when Bingeaux was still pretty young. He was maybe a year old at the time. The possum was hiding behind the air conditioner. I let Bingeaux out just to see what he would do. He ran right past him and didn't even know he was there. Once he found him though, it was all over with. He snatched that possum up and did the rattie head shake. It was actually pretty brutal. I honestly didn't expect it. I guess I was naive but I thought he would just bark at the possum or maybe try to paw at it. At the time I didn't know that's what RTs were bred for. The other one was at my in-laws with his 2 rattie cousins. He gets credit for the kill because the other two didn't even notice the possum was there.

In addition to being great pets, they are the best rodent killers I've ever seen. It's a nice little bonus.

Then I guess Ratty would be a bunny terrier as well. He got his first kill at 9 weeks old. I saw him digging in my ex-MIL's yard and thought he had found a nest of baby rats. Wrong... baby bunnies, it broke my heart, he killed all 5 before I could get there. By the time he was 3 months he killed his first rat in garage of my ex-FIL and brought it to me and "Grandad". Grandad got rid of it. He was fast in his day, maybe he will be again real soon. Cameo has caught a moth and ate it, I guess she is a Moth Terrier.

Heck, I didn't know we were counting crickets, too. That jumps Bingeaux's kill total up a lot, HaHa. Seriously, he loves to find frogs in the backyard. He never picks them up with his mouth, but he will bop them on the head with his paws kinda like a cat. I don't know if he's trying to kill them or if he wants to play with them, but the end result is the same either way.

Skittles found a nest of baby moles one day. My 17 yo daughter just cried and cried .... I just took the ones that were left and threw them over the fence so she couldn't get to them anymore. So Skittles is a bunny-mole-mouse terrier.

Pixie tried to eat a pecan pie off the kitchen table last night.... she must be a Pecan terrier

I know Chloe would love to get a hold of those squirrels in the back yard if they would just come a little further down that tree........  She could spend hours at the base watching and waiting.

We had a bit of a mouse problem at the house last month. The little mice were going into one certain closet. Dottie could not get to them, so the hubby got some live traps and held mouse killing training sessions on the screened-in porch. You never saw such an excitied little rattie! When he would pull a trap out of the closet she would go nuts!! She likes to play with them before she gets the death shake on them!

Rowdy has earned his stripes as a rat terrier. I've never seen him kill anything, but he does bring us his "prize" at the backdoor. He has brought us a rat, a squirrel and several mice. This summer we had a bit of an issue with mice in our basement, too, but he took care of them far better than any cat. It was a short-lived issue. If you're including bugs, there's no end to the various things he's killed. It's hard to keep track of the bugs- he usually eats them. We also have a spider problem every summer thanks to the open field next to our house, but he's a great spider terrier.
We have raccoons, too, but they're out at night so he never meets up with them. They're the same size as Rowdy, so I'm not sure how that battle would go... It's better they not meet.

Hendryx is a veteran of sorts too. Two chipmunks, two baby birds, and inumerable flies. I guess that makes him a flying chipmunkbird terrier. I saw him kill one chipmunk; sure enough it was the rattie headshake. He had been practicing on his toys for a few months (he was still a puppy) and then got the opportunity to do it for real. He was so proud. I praised him too - that's what hunting dogs are about.

His name is Hendryx! He's a rat terrier! OK!

The only thing Bailey ever killed was a lizard. I do thing we have a mouse (or two) now cause a few times Bailey has started barking like crazy and starts clawing at the cabinet doors to get in. I hope she has scared them off. I hate catching them in traps, I have to throw the trap and all in the trash.

Hi, I'm new to rat terrier.com and this is my first post. I hope I do it correctly. I have a female rat terrier named Orkin. She has killed mice and rats, but the other night she met up with a skunk and preceded to dance with it. She walked and danced around him on two legs till he finally got tired and sent her packing with a quick squirt. This earned her a late night bath.

Good boy, Bob! Now that is being a super Rattie - killing a rat to protect your mama!
Katie eradicated the chipmunk population her first year. Dixie, our Lab, had taken care of the mole problem her first year with us. So, I guess Katie is a chipmunk terrier and Dixie is a mole-lab

The sad thing is we had a mouse in our house (in our closet eating bird seed) and Bailey was scared of him......he ran. So we went to walmart and bought a mouse (it has batteries and moves)out of the cat section. Bailey chases him now. So hopefully if we have another mouse he will get HIM!
