My poor baby got spayed yesterday. I didn't wanna leave her there. Shes went through the surgery fine. They did the bloodwork before and pain meds afterwards. They said she did great. She was really groggy yesterday when I brought her home. Shes more awake now, the pain medication is starting to wear down and she can feel it. She is walking slowly and gingerly (which we all know is not a trait of a Rat-terrier). She is trying to jump on and off the furniture though, shes even doing that gingerly (the two times I couldn't catch her before she did it). The Vet said she'd try to be more active tonight that I should keep her calm. They said recovery time is usually about a week. So, she'll be back to herself soon enough. I'm a worry-wart so I'm just feeling sad for her. I've been through surgery before and I know what its like. Aww...now shes got hiccups. She'll be fine though!!

when I picked up Alice from her spay she was so cute. She was so groggy and just tired. Once that groggyness wore off she tried to do the same thing, on the furniture or stairs. My vet said to make sure she didn't over do herself so we crated her for 48 hours and only let her out to potty. The vet gave us tranquilizers for her for those 2 days so she would rest. If I trusted her to rest on her own it would have never happened!! I was so sad for her those 2 days but at the same time liked the break LOL. Anyway, she had a full recovery and to be honest you can't even see a scar or mark on her! Good Luck!! She will be fine.....we tend to worry more than them

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too

Glad to hear that everything went fine and she's back home recuperating. Lucy was a big ol' baby when she got spayed and took FULL advantage of everyone feeling sorry for her. We got the "sad eyes" a lot because she knew that would make everyone go "awwwwwww" and give her a bite of yogurt or something---what a brat. She got over it really quickly, though, and by the time her stitches came out, you would have never known that she even had surgery.
