Help please!?!?  Can anyone go and check out Cupcake for me?  She's at the Lander County Animal Shelter in Battle Mountain Nevada.   If anyone is near there and could go see her for me, I would SOOOOOOO appreciate it!!!!  

As some might know, I am looking for another female rattie for Chloe and I.  I've been looking in my area (Portland OR) for 3 months now and haven't had any luck yet.  I've contacted the shelter and got some real basic info on her, but would love for some to go see her and let me know what she is like so that I can try to determine if she would be a good fit for us.   My chloe is very submissie with all dogs and I need for our rescue babe to also be submissive so that Chloe does not end up feeling replaced (as suggested by our trainer).  I'm waiting to hear back on wether this is a kill shelter or not.  

Their adoption policy is really simple and cost very minimal (which is a little scary to me) but thought this might assist me in being able to get her, if she is a good match for us.  Maybe someone can adopt her for me while I work on getting her transported to me in Oregon?  If  I can enlist some help with that some how ??   My dad lives in Oregon too (further southeast of me) and I'm sure he could meet someone south of him (if this all works out) and bring her the rest of the way home to me.  This shelter will not ship/fly.

Update!  I just got another email from the shelter and she sounds like the girl I've been looking/hoping for!!!   The owners just dumped her when the moved out of town!  Stupid jerks. Why do people do these things to little innocent dogs?!?!    Anyway, I'm now waiting to hear if I can adopt her since I live outside of Nevada -  OR-  if they'll let me have someone else adopt her for me.   

So, if  there is anyone that can go get her for me  PLEASE let me know!!   I really think she's the one for us!   And I KNOW we'd love her and take care of her and not dump her at Mc Donalds!

I just did a mapquest and Im 5 yrs 22 mins away! lets see if there is somebody closer..I just got back from driving to Oregon LAST weekend!!!My mom lives in Creseant City,Ca.and we went to Brookings&Grants Pass while I was there! so I know the way! let's see?its 6 or 7 hrs for me to get to oregon for me....I qualify as a rescue too after I added Polo so I can adopt too! I know your excited! I know I couldn't wait to get to polo and rescue him either ! let me know what  I can do ok? Linda- I don't know you, but think you are pretty amazing!!!!  Okay.... so yes! I would absolutely help out/pay for your gas!!  Yes, I know I want her!!  Just as she is!!   I just have this gut  feeling she's the one I've been searching for!    Anyway, I have't yet heard back from Cindy as to whether someone out of state can adopt her or not but have my son calling and asking right now- and hopfully finding out what their hours of operartion are.   Maybe that doesn't matter if you are a rescue person??  I don't know.

Meeting up with you...... I'm trying to talk  with family in various parts of Oregon to see what I can figure out in terms of who and where best to meet you if you go get her.  What would work best for you?!?   Should we try to meet at CA/OR border (I5)  Or is there a better place to try to meet up with you?   I'm waiting to hear back from my mom to see if she wants to do a road trip, but won't know the answer til later on today.  I can't get ahold of my dad until later.  so, if you can let me know what/where would be easiest to meet you once you have her, I can work out the rest of the details.   Also- how do I do a PM to you so we can exchange phone numbers?  (don't really want to post that on here)  I think waiting til Tuesday would be bet given the holiday weekend traffic, but don't know if they'll hold her for me til then and am waiting to hear an answer on that too. More later.

I never did hear back from this shelter on whether or not an out-of-stater could adopt Cupcake or if someone could adopt for me, but  I think,  I HOPE, Cupcake has been adopted by someone who will love her forever.  She was still on Petfinder yesterday with a new pic, and today she's gone.  I really, really hope this means something good for her.   You're in my thoughts Cupcake!

You can always call the shelter to find out for sure if she was adopted.

Alice was under $20.00 so don't let the price scare ya LOL. 

If you are in this situation again, just have the person who is going to pull your resuce fill out the adoptive paperwork as if it were there own. Because Alice was in a high kill shleter they would not even hold her for me the 4 hours I drove. I had a Russell Rescue person go pull her in the morning and keep her at her house til I got there. Legally I guess Alice is hers.

I don't think these people answer their phone (just take messages)  or return long distance calls.  I called many times- they never called me back.   So, I can only hope for the best.  I'm now hoping to adopt one of 2 girls from Ratbone.  (fingers crossed)
