Hey I know some of you are not fond of breeding Ratties.  I agree there are many in shelters that need homes but I still want to breed my Bailey.  I want to get one of his offsprings.  I am wanting to research all the angles on breeding before I try it again.  (first round didnt go so well)  He is a blue so I know that I need to make sure the female is not a blue and that she has not blue dilute right??  He is also around 25 pounds so I should find a female around that size.  An advice would be helpful.  Thanks

Hey thanks I did get Bailey from a breeder and I called him and he said that he has his own males that he breeds.  He did offer to sale me a female lol.  I just dont want to get that involved.

MORE TEMPERMENT THAN SIZE...I just thought cute pups till I saw the difference! My breeder that I got shamus and domino,lacie from breeds for blk/wht but mostley for temperment (he culls the nutty ones)and size,his boys throw small pups,(his dams are bigger so as to have ease of birth)and he know's people want small(toy)so I would go for those 2 things,spend time with mom,and see if you could live with her as YOUR dog if so, between yours and her you have a better chance of BETTERING them both not getting worse than!Sometime things be amplified And you don't want as" good you should aim for Better THAN! DOES THAT MAKE SINCE? 

also have you thought of a full sibling?that is what id do! I would go back and get one of Shamus's this year sibling- pups in a heartbeat!

My suggestion would be that you get your girl fully tested and OFA'ed. Then breed her to a fully tested OFA male. It's not a guarantee that the babys will have NO issues but it will lessen the odds.. good luck on your litter
