I am really considering making NIbbler's dog food. Does anyone else make their own food? What do you put in it? I found some recipes online, but I'm not really sure about dog dietary needs. Let me know! |

| I've considered this, too, (along with just about every other kind of food and doggie diet out there!) I am curious to hear if anyone does this as well... I too am worried about not meeting his nutritional needs, I thought about taing him to a holistic vet and see if they have any suggestions. |

| There are some recipes out there, but I believe it can be very hard to make sure all the nutritional needs of the dog are met all the time. This topic has come up before but I am not sure if anyone had any good ideas on how to make it. I think with all the good quality foods out there, the time and money spent trying to make a complete food is more than if you just bought a high quality one. |

I think there might be a website with some recipes in the cooking section on this site. I thought about it more than a few times, but I decided to go with a high quality food instead. I feed Mic Innova Evo. But I do give him other foods sometimes like chicken, rice, and just found out he loves cooked green beans There's a recipe for peanut butter dog bones in that section too, I just made them for Mic and he LOVED them! Very easy to make too. But beware, the recipe makes a lot of bones! I ended up giving some to friends who had dogs |

| I used to cook a pot of white rice and make a pot of chicken. I just boiled the chicken until it fell off of the bones. Throw the bones out, but keep all of the broth and a little fat. My dogs used to devour it and the vet said it was great for them. |

WELL, dog mushers in alaska feed their dogs hot meals EVERYDAY when on the Ididarod trail. now granted these dogs need more protien because they are pulling all the weight but I think that a home made dog food is a great idea.... I am not sure how to do it thought....nutritionaly speaking.... I will see if I can find soem stuff around the area here on it! |

My mom makes her dog food on occasion. She uses this book which contains 50 vet approved recipes. Hope this helps. |

| I just use regular food, cooked without seasoning. 60% protein, 20% starch, and 20% vegetables. But just to be sure, we give Buster 1/2 a childs vitamin everyother day. |
