Ok, so in the last couple of weeks I've been feeding only Natural Balance (was mixing it with Nutro until I used up the last of the Nutro).  But they don't poop near as much on NB only....if I add lots of veggies or eggs or oatmeal they'll poop more that day BUT I've been concerned because sometimes Mitzy and Skipper only poop once a day now.  Loco is down to twice a day and Mayfly just twice, too.  Before they were going 3 times a day...Mitzy and Skipper twice a day.

Bill thinks I'm obsessive to even notice how many times they poop but it's part of looking after their health.  None of them are straining or acting constipated or uncomfortable....there is just a few poopies missing.

Could this be because the quality of food is that much higher that they're using more of it instead of it just coming out as waste?

That's probably what it is. I would think the less poop the better, unless they are straining or having tummy distress.

I agree, totally because it is a higher quality food. Jack only goes 2 times a day also since switching to Canidae. Nutro, while not a bad food, does still have corn = more poop!! I'd say they were fine, like Pam said, just watch for any changes in behavior. Less poop is a GREAT thing, lol

The Nutro I was feeding (Lamb & Rice) did not have any corn in it. It did have a lot more rice in it though and not nearly as much meat as the NB Premium.

I just wish Bob wouldn't have to wake up in the middle of the night to go poop.

Mayfly is the only one of mine that does that which is why I still put out pee pads at night. I think she just gets so busy during the day when we're home that sometimes she forgets to poop - then she wakes up and has to go.

Squirt does this, glad I am not alone. Does Bob like to be outside? Squirt seems to have to poop in the middle of the night more when it is nicer out......thinks she is missing something Iguess.
