Today Lucy acted as if she was on her deathbed.  could it be because I have changed my daily routine?  Before today I was working part-time and here and there while in between jobs.  I spent an awful lot of time home with her.  I started my "work" routine today, getting up 2 hours earlier than usual and out the door within an hour.  Lucy got up with me, went outside to do her business and came back in.  My fiancee left at her normal time.  Between our departures Lucy didn't leave the bed even when the 'fridge opened and we ate/made lunch.  She called me at work saying that Lucy was in the bed and wouldn't  come out.  She was also shaking, had her ears pegged back and looked the way she does before she throws up.  She checked in on the dog at lunch and found no accidents or vomit.  The dog was in the same exact spot and doing the same thing, looking as if she was going in and out of consiousness.  She really got us worried.  When I came home she was still the same.  I did get her to go woutside and she did her business much to my relief.  Everything came out normal.  I took her to the vet and once seeing and hearing dogs she perked right up and acted normal.  The vet checked her out to include a blood test and found nothing wrong with her. She's now acting a little better, but gives us a very sad look.  I did bring her to my sisters house on Xmas and she spent the day playing with her Pug which is the same age and opposite sex (both fixed).  They had a blast and wore each other out (not completely!).  She was fine on the 26th and now this.  Could she be lonely?  Anyone out there been through this before?????

Thanks...Also forgot to ask; could she be constipated??  She has had only one bowel movement in the last 24 hours and it was very small and hard.  If so, can I buy over the counter laxatives at pet stores?

I am really not that much help in this department...I suppose she could be. I would wait it out a couple of days if your vet says everything is OK...if no change, you might call your vet and ask questions.

When my dog plays with other dogs he'll be wiped out for a day or two. I think it's a combo of tired out from playing AND the change in routine. When I'm at work Russ pretty much spends the whole day sleeping. Whenever my husband or I travel for work Russ will be real mopey for a day or two, then he perks back up.

As long as your pup isn't showing any signs of illness, I wouldn't be concerned. She'll get used to the new routine. For constipation you can try adding a spoon of canned pumpkin (Plain, not pumpkin pie filling) to her food. Sometimes too much peanut butter has a laxative effect on Russ, might try some PB.

When I have issues with my dog acting funny, I always test by saying "treat" and "potty" which are two of the 'excitement trigger words.' If he doesn't respond to them, I take it to the next level and get the neighbors dog. If Blue doesn't even want to play with him, I then take him in to the vet's office. The two times I have done this, he has had a fever. After a short course of antibiotics, he seems to be much better.
I am a worry-wart though. If you are patient enough, I would try to wait a couple days. If not, ^.
