I love Freckles, but mostly after she's had a good run outside with me.  When it's freezing rain like it is today, I'd like to murder her!!  She's so naughty.  What games can I play with her inside besides fetch (that she really doesn't care for anyway) that will burn some of the energy?  I also do some training with her when it's inclimate out, but you can only train so long. Thanks!

When it's cruddy outside and we can't do out normal walk without getting soaked, my husband and I play 'where's mommy/where's daddy'. I'll hold the dog in one part of the house while my husband hides. Then, I'll tell her, "go find daddy!" and she runs off to try and find him, and vice versa. You can train this by having your partner yelling for your dog to come while you hold the dog and tell her 'go find daddy/mommy!" and then treating when the dog finds the hider. This is not only great physical exercise, but great mental exercise as well for the dog. An extra added benefit too, is that when I'm trying to cook dinner or whatever and she's driving me crazy being underfoot, I can tell her 'go find daddy!' and she runs off to find him.

I would just wait til the next nice day and take her out to run. Nothing seems to burn my dogs energy inside they just get wild and run in circles chasing each other.

My hubby and I sit in oposite ends of the house and take turns calling Nibs. He runs so fast to see what we want that he tires himself out after about 10 minutes. I am tinking about setting up a few obsticles for him to jump over - he is an excellent jumper and hits the floor running. His trainer for beginning lessons thinks he would be good with the obsticle courses. Wish I had time to find out.

That's a good idea, we do that at the lake. We each stand on different sides of the lake and call the dogs and they run and back forth running to us lol

I don't seem to have that problem. We have a long hallway that empties into the living room and Violet does what we loving call "the puppy run" up and down the hall. All we have to say now is "go" and she runs back and forth at top speed.
You do need to watch out as she will just run you over if you are in the way.
By the way, Violet started the running and taught us that she likes to play this way.

I usually play with lucy and her toys or tug of war. I have a small house but still throw her ball or toy around so that she's running around a lot. After a while she'll take the toy or ball and go off on her own and chew it. I like to try to take the toy from her and let her get away. She gets great pleasure out of being able to keep the toy from me. Try tug of war. It's really fun and amusing if are creative enough!

On cruddy days I just send Rowdy and Schatzi upstairs to our bedroom (it's like a loft and there's nothing up there they can destroy) and they will spend a good half hour wrestling tiring each other out. Sometimes I just suck it up, bundle up, and take Rowdy out for a run. If I stay inside everytime we have cruddy weather, I'd never get any exercise in the winter! We just run a little slower when it's slick.
