I am looking for a new couch, but don't know what kind I should get since I'm new to this rattie thing. Should I be looking for a micro-fiber, chenelle or leather or any other kind you can suggest. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated. My rattie is 7 wks old and I just love her to death!!

I still haven't figured out how to get my avatar going. I have looked and looked and cannot find where I can change my JPG to jpg. Any suggestions there?

Peggy, as far as the avatar, when your loading your pic on to the website, just delete the capital JPG and type in lowercase jpg in the upload bar!!!

Couches... I dunno...I have old as dirty couches that I cover with blankets and sheets, so I'm no help there! lol. Leather is not a good idea though, little nails scratch the leather...

Too bad you can't take your rattie with you when picking out a couch. We have leather couches and our rattie hasn't scratched them, and his nails get long sometimes. On the other hand, leather is cold in the winter so we have to keep a throw handy for Bob to lay on.

We haven't had any issues with our leather couch yet. In fact Mic has claimed it as his favorite nap spot! And he jumps on it to bark at the neighbors No scratches or holes yet! But we do keep his nails trimmed.

My other couch is some fuzzy material, I have no idea, but his little hairs get stuck in it. I just vacuum it every now and then and its good as new!

I think any kind of couch you get would be perfect as long as there's a comfy blankie for her to cuddle with

We also have all leather furniture in our den, and have had it now for hhhhmmmmmmmm... maybe 5 years? And... I have four dogs who are all over all the furniture. It has held up beautifully. We were told when we purchased ours, to be sure to get the "finished" leather if you have pets... so we did. It proved to be a good choice!

Peggy,

Congrats on your new puppy!! I bet she's precious

Whatever you buy DON'T get the micro-fiber...they are a PITA to clean, even IF they say it's treated with Scotch Guard.. it doesn't help & the hair sticks to it like super glue!! We learned the hard way .

When you own a Rattie....you KNOW you are in your right mind

THE MEANING OF RESCUE

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.
Hmm... Yes there it is, right on the top
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things -
And take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never repack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?

Welcome!! Can't wait to see pics. I also have leather and love it. The boys always lay on it, it is easy to clean, doesn't hold the hair and doesn't pick up smells like my fabric couch that the kids use in their room. That one definatley has not help up very well with all the abuse. Good luck couch shopping!

Our rat terrier Max just turned two and he is busy and wild most of the time.  We recently got a micro fiber couch and it wipes clean and he even digs and hides his bones in it and has not hurt it at all.  Merry Christmas.

I just wanted to say WELCOME! I'm not much help with the couch. We have a cheap one we bought on Craig's List and we throw a slipcover my friend gave us over it. We're budget. We learned the hard way when our German Shephard unstuffed our old couch one day. No more investing in furniture until she calms down.
