and time to go for a ride to the dog park.

I wonder how Daxter know if it's weekend and I am not working on Saturday and Sunday.

On week day we have a routine, I get up, shower, take him for a walk and we go back, he get feed and while I am getting ready to work, he automatically jumps back to his bed to snuggle and sleeps. He doesn't even look at me when I left for work.

But when weekends coming, he always stand by the door every time I am ready to leave and he give me the look "let's go I am ready to go with you look". Even though I create that same routine, pretending it's a weekday, he always know that.

Is your rattie do the same thing too, like they know when on weekdays mom got to work and fine with it but weekend mom got to take me for a ride and play with me all day and not leaving me alone at home.

Just wondering.

I don't know how these ratties know our schedules, but they do.  Marley always seems to know what day of the week it is and whether it is a day for the park, mudhole, or our regular walk.  These ratties are just too darn smart.

We'll have to outwit the fiend with our superior intelligence.

I'm new to this site and am amazed by the similarities in rattie traits! Yes, Charlotte must keep a day tally in her head or is just very sensitive to little changes in our behavior (weekday to weekend). She used to suffer from terrible separation anxiety--but only on the weekends; for some reason, she was accepting of us leaving her to go to work, but she made sure we did her bidding on the weekends. In order to maintain any sort of weekend social life, we had to start setting our alarms early, as if it were a weekday, and then get ready as if we were going to work (not fun). This charade included us having to put on suits and other office attire just so we could get out the door without her freaking out and barking/howling for hours on end (we live in a condo so it was of particular imporantance that we curbed this behavior). Charlotte has calmed down over the past year, but still we have to be careful not to fuss over her too much on weekends if we know we're going out. We pretty much have had to change our life around to accomodate her quirks but I don't care, she's worth it!
