I love this show on TLC. I love seeing the different parts of the county and the choices people have in their area for homes. I love to guess what home they will pick out of the three choices.

Last night I watched a single woman trying to find a different apartment in New York. She was moving from a very small apartment that did not have a laundry room in the building. It showed how she had to walk down the street with her laundry basket to go to the laundry mat. OMG, her underwear fell out of the basket right in the middle of the busy New York street.

Anyway, one of her choices and the one she eventially picked was an apartment with 800 square feet, and that was really much bigger than the one she was leaving behind. It cost 6 hundred thousand dollars plus a monthly maintance fee.  Oh Lord, that is just crazy or what.

She had a laundry room in the building and a door man. Her apartment was really cute and over looked the Washington Bridge.

I just can't believe the cost to live in NY and the space you pay for. I think I'll stay in Minnesota.

I do like that one too. It's amazing. We've had our house appraised and it's never as much as other houses I see around the country. Do you think they are alittle unrealistic, or do I just live like a country bumpkin...

I have no idea why the markets in some areas is so astoundingly high. It's a bit crazy...I don't care what kind of conveniences, etc., it has to offer. I wouldn't pay $600 grand for 800 square feet EVER.

I would pay that for 800 square feet of a gold mine or an oil well.    You can get a mansion around here for $300,000.  For $600,000 you could get a mansion with a lot of land.

It is quite amazing what cities cost. NYC is very expensive. And what you get for your $, that show is crazy!!! I think they go to the most expensive parts of each city!! I was looking up Denver Colorado just for fun one day......The amount I paid for my brand new house here would by me a shack there, maybe an outhouse! I hope they get paid more!

P.S.: All of the above for the whomping price of $439,000 (which is a boat load of $$ around here). Maybe they should call the girl from NYC and offer her the 800 sq. foot 1 bedroom apt. above the garage for 1/2 of what she paid for her "pad". LOL

LOL, Vicki!!! Do you know how many ratties I could have living in a place like this??? Hee hee.. 42 acres and 3,000+ square feet. Think a New Yorker City girl would get lost in her own house and have to call for help???

I think a NY Girl who can navigate that city will be able to eventually navigate a house!
Just label the hallways like streets blocks and neighborhoods.
Be sure you designate a spot for your socialite ratties and a spot for your down and dirty gangsta ratties.

Oh, you should have seen her. Every room she walked into, she put her hands in the air and whirled around saying, "Look at all this room". And if you think about the house with the acres...I would guess even on the low end, 1 rattie per acre, gives them lots of room.. Total: 42 ratties. Why does the subject allways go back to the dogs...LOL!!!

That would work...she wasn't the brightest bulb, she had cats, NO ratties...

LOL !!! Yes, but it would also probably go back on the market really fast once she realized a few things:
1. There is no place to get a midnight cannoli - you're one and only option for food after 9:00 p.m., if you are lucky, is pizza - and this location is probably too far "out".
2. No one within a 50 mile radius (or more) is going to understand what you want when you say "soy - anything" and/or "tofu".
3. There is a good to excellent chance at some point you will need gasoline and be unable to get it because someone has "gone fishin'"
