Not sure is this one is mentioned yet, and I'm sure its a trait of many--when running the Rattie 500 in the yard, a rattie must take a FLYING LEAP from the sidewalk to the grass, which is a height difference of about 1/2 inch. |

| My patio has these flagstone walkways feeding from the patio slab to the grass. They're about 5-6' long. When the girls are doing a ratrun zoom around the yard, Button leaps over them all the way to the grass like a deer! Can't figure our why she does this, but she acts like she'll get some dread disease if she "steps on a crack" so to speak. She also does this leaping, big long, high leaps like a gazelle, whenever she catches a whiff of a squirrel, opossum or some other night critter, but can't yet see where they are or have been in the yard. |

| Our RT, Nikki (picture), will continuously leap around the yard like a gizelle. She keeps front legs together and back legs together and prances high into the air each time without pauses in between. She just levitates. It blows people away when they see her do it. It is truly a beautiful sight to behold. I was told it is a hunting instinct, to be able to see game in high grass. These wonderful persons in fur never cease to amaze me. |

| I find the gazelle-style leaping fascinating, too. I've never seen any other breed of dog do this. |

Casey here, will finish is ratty 500 by circling one last time in the back yard, entering the house to to his house 1meter dash, and then levitate himself through the air, to the pack of the sofa, prepell off our hudge sofa pillows, and catapolt straight back to the floor. All in one swift motion. Isn't it great entertainment. |

And at my house, when they finish that zooming and come inside, we've discovered there must be an "invisible" trip wire across my back door! Because every time Zipper trips it, it turns her into a "crazy" dog and she starts immediate and minorly aggressive "playing?" with Button. And folks, this is EVERY SINGLE TIME she comes through that back door! Sweet Button is so tolerant of what Zipper dishes out! Button has just learned to tuck butt and run when she comes in now, because she knows Zipper's gonna do it! Button's a fast learner! Sooooo Funny! |

And I just thought our dog was strange...we didn't know he was a rattie until recently, and hate to admit it, I didn't even know about the breed until recently. We got our dog from the pound and just thought he was some strange mix of hyper dog. So when we first saw him take a flying leap from the front porch over the bushes into the yard, we were stunned, he's so tiny, and only weighs 20 lbs, so how did he ever jump that high? It's even more fun to watch after he gets a running start! He also loves to jump from couch to couch, which are a few feet apart! hehe |
