Okay, I think I would like to cook dinner one night next week for our neighbor and her family (she is the sister of the lady who died).  She has three children in age range of 19 to about 10, and a husband.  Any thoughts on what I could fix that she could pop in the oven and heat (like a casserole or something) that the kids would like.  I make a really good chicken wrapped in bacon with sour cream and mushroom soup mixture - everyone loves it, but would the kids?  Any ideas?  I am so NOT Betty Crocker.

Oh wait!  I make a mean beef stew.  What about that.  I can make it up on Monday and drop it off and she can reheat it for whatever day suits her.  What do y'all think about that idea?

I think the beef stew is the better of the two (though the chicken dish sounds delicious). Stew is so much easier to store (and can be frozen) and tends to get better with each re-heating

I also vote for the beef. Last year when my Hubby broke his neck a lot of wonderful people sent in meals.
We did get a lot of Chicken. They were all good and was great not having to cook...especially when I ended
up with appendicitis.

Thanks for the help, y'all. Yes, I think the beef stew is a good choice -- and it is something I do a pretty good job with, reheats easily and can be frozen. So, that's what I'll do. I'm so not good at this.

hehe, I was going to suggest lasagne too!  I'm on day 3 of my lasagne at home... that stuff lasts forever!  I think I could eat it everyday

Although, I do love stew! And that is like a comfort food!

I agree with the stew fora neighbor hon and bless you for not avoiding her, she needs that support big time! I've been following your posts about that tragedy and just wish you all the strength on the world. Send out a wave of healing for me too when you drop that off. and um, could I have that chicken recipe? I was practically drooling reading that! sounds fantastic!
